Ron Phillips, Principal

Ron Phillips brings more than 25 years of experience in consulting and business management, as well as various other areas of federal government relations. Prior to joining Washington Strategies, Phillips served as Senior Vice President of large lobby shops beginning in 2005, where he managed and developed divisions such as Defense, Homeland Security, Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Natural Resources and the Space and Aviation sector. He also served as political advisor to various Members of Congress. Primarily, Mr. Phillips focuses on advancing his clients' federal policy objectives, especially within areas of his expertise, including defense and national security policy.

Previously, Ron was Senior Policy Advisor and Professional Staff Member on the United States House of Representatives Armed Services Committee (HASC) where he directed all political and Member affairs for Chairman Duncan Hunter (R-CA). Mr. Phillips was also responsible for coordinating the HASC Member services. Prior to his work on the HASC, Phillips worked as Senior Research Analyst to Congressman Hunter in the GOP Leadership and was promoted to the Director of Research for the House Republican Research Committee (HRRC). As Director of Research, Mr. Phillips coordinated 67 House Republican Leadership Task Forces and was responsible for planning special events with the White House. He served as Special Liaison for the Republican National Committee and the National Congressional Campaign Committee for the HRRC.

Phillips has held various positions in governmental and legislative affairs in both Washington, D.C. and Florida. While serving as Chairman of the Lake County Republican Party, Mr. Phillips was also the Third Congressional District Chairman and an Executive Board Member of the Republican Party of Florida. Phillips served as Chief of Staff/Legislative Aide to Representative Randy Johnson of the Florida House of Representatives. Further, Ron served as a Commissioner for District One for the Lake County Soil and Water Conservation District.

A native of Florida, Phillips received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science, both in Political Science, from Florida State University.
