Jennifer Johnson Jarrell, Partner

Jennifer Jarrell began her career working for her home state Senator and Senate Whip, Al Simpson. Although she started working in the U.S. Senate, Jarrell also worked in the U.S. House of Representatives and has extensive ties with the current Administration, where it doesn't hurt to be from Wyoming. Her Western background is combined with her 16 years experience on Capitol Hill where she dealt with issues affecting the entire federal government and all 50 states.

Jennifer is a founder of the Government Affairs business at Washington Strategies, LLC. Begun in January of 2001, Jarrell helped grow the lobby shop into a top-rated appropriations partnership and acts as managing director of the firm. Her lobbying expertise focuses on the issue areas of appropriations, energy and natural resources, education, transportation, and budget issues.

A native of Wyoming, Jarrell began her federal service in 1991, working in the United States Senate as an aide to Assistant Republican Leader Alan K. Simpson (R-WY). Her four years of service to the influential Whip gave her insight into Senate leadership circles and forged strong relationships with senior Members and staff of the U.S. Senate. Jarrell finished her seven years of Capitol Hill experience in the office of U.S. Representative Joel Hefley (R-CO), a senior Member of the Resources and Armed Services Committees. Jarrell served in both administrative and legislative positions for Hefley and was responsible for the issue areas of education, health care, and foreign affairs.

Off Capitol Hill, Jarrell worked as a Government Affairs Director of an international defense company for nearly three years, educating the firm in U.S. Congressional legislation and Capitol Hill politics. She also worked for three years as a lobbyist concentrating on appropriations, Native American and natural resources issues at a top Washington, DC, law firm then ranked number five in lobbying strength.

Jarrell has extensive legislative, political campaign and political fund raising experience as she has served as a professional fundraiser for political candidates including Senator Mike Enzi (R-WY), Representative John Peterson (R-PA) and the Western Political Action Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives. Jarrell has also worked on various political campaigns over the years in the states of Wyoming, Montana, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia and Arkansas.

Jarrell holds a degree in corporate management from Florida Atlantic University and is an elected member of the Board of Governors of the Capitol Hill Club. She has been active with the Board of the Wyoming State Society and is also a founder and Board Member of Western Watch, a national public policy organization dedicated to preserving and improving the quality of life for Western and rural Americans.
