Bill
Jarrell came to Washington, DC,
in 1985 as part of Newt Gingrich's
American Campaign Academy. After
graduating from the academy Jarrell
worked on several high profile
campaigns before beginning his
career in the U.S. Congress. With
over 20 years in Washington, DC,
political circles Jarrell enjoys
close relationships with many Congressional
Leaders, Committee Chairmen, and
other influential policy makers
and political operatives in our
nation's capital. With many years
on Capitol Hill, Jarrell enjoys
watching his "former interns" run
Congress's many offices.
Before founding the government affairs business at Washington Strategies, Bill Jarrell worked four years as a lobbyist at a leading law firm, where he focused on natural resources, taxes, Native American concerns, university appropriations, transportation, high technology issues, and general appropriations work. Previously, Jarrell worked for several prominent Republican members of Congress and at the U.S. Department of the Interior during the first Bush Administration. A veteran Republican Party activist, he has also managed and directed numerous political campaigns.
While on Capitol Hill, Jarrell served as Deputy Chief of Staff, Administrative Assistant and Campaign Manager to then-House Majority Whip Tom DeLay (R-TX). In addition, he served as Chief of Staff to Representative James Saxton (R-NJ) and to Representative Donald Lukens (R-OH); as Communications Director to Senator Steve Symms (R-ID); and as Press Aide to Representative Mickey Edwards (R-OK).
During his tenure as Deputy Director for Communications at the U.S. Department of the Interior, Jarrell managed internal and external communications issues for the department's various agencies. He also coordinated and managed the department's Take Pride in America initiative that awarded and promoted over 7,000 stewardship projects and programs around the United States. The second Bush Administration, upon taking office, again called upon Jarrell's expertise when it named him to the President's Transition Advisory Team overseeing the Interior Department.
Jarrell is a member of the Board of Governors of the Capitol Hill Club, and is a founder and Board Member of the Western Watch Foundation, a national public policy organization dedicated to preserving and improving the quality of life for Western and rural Americans.
Jarrell is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University. Jarrell and his wife, Jennifer, serve on the Mount Nittany Society, one of the most prestigious organizations at The Pennsylvania State University. He continues to serve as an active alumnus, recently giving the commencement speech at the Penn State Delaware County campus in Media, Pennsylvania.
